Jasmine & Joshua - Norfolk beach family photoshoot in autumn

There’s a special kind of calm that settles over the Norfolk coast in autumn. The crowds have gone, the air feels crisp, and the sea takes on those soft silvery tones that make every photograph feel timeless.

This lovely family joined me for a beach session wrapped in cosy layers that elevated the styling. The boys, full of spirit and completely themselves, brought all the energy and joy we needed to chase away the chill. One was a whirlwind of curiosity, the other a quiet explorer, both totally at home by the sea.

We met on a Norfolk afternoon, rain clouds gently rolling in above us, and the boys, full of their own unique energy, wasted no time racing across the dunes. One bold and curious, the other thoughtful and observant. Together they made the perfect little team, with mum and dad following close behind, laughing and chasing.

Autumn sessions have their own rhythm. The textures of wool coats, chunky knits, and knitted hats bring a story of comfort and connection. The palette of denim, creams and browns blends beautifully with the sand and the sea. What I love the most about autumn sessions is how cosy they feel. The movement brought by the wind, the textures, the way everyone naturally draws closer to one another. There’s beauty in the imperfect moments: sand on coats, hair tousled by the breeze, laughter carried away by the waves.

If you’ve ever thought family photos were only for summer, think again. The beach in autumn is pure magic, and it might just be my favourite time of all to capture it.
