Penny - Norfolk Maternity and Family Photoshoot in a wildflower field
Norwich Family Maternity Photoshoot
Somewhere just outside Norwich, a very special family stepped into the golden hour. One glowing mama, round with love and life; one dad, solid and kind; and one thoughtful little boy with a heart full of flowers.
We wandered into a field that felt like it had been waiting all day just for us. The air smelled of meadow and summer and the kind of magic that only exists right before bedtime. Mum slipped into a flowing dress that caught the breeze like it had something to say. She was glowing in the quiet, powerful way women do when they’re carrying the moon inside them.
Dad, quiet and steady, had eyes on both of them as he played human climbing frame. And then there was the toddler, little sunshine in tiny shoes. With great ceremony, he picked wildflowers and offered them to us one by one, like a small prince bestowing gifts. Buttercups, daisies, something I think might’ve been a thistle (we still said thank you). Between cuddles with mum and hand-holding walks with dad, he reminded me how soft a photoshoot can be when joy is this gentle.
Sunset, of course, showed up in full drama, pouring honey-coloured light onto everything and turning this Norfolk field into a dream you could walk through. We captured those quiet moments: mum smiling down at her bump, dad holding his son on his lap, the three of them tangled together in that perfect, fleeting season of waiting & wonder.
As the light dipped, we caught the kind of shots that you want to frame, then reframe again in ten years because “Oh my gosh, remember when he was that small?” and “You looked SO beautiful pregnant.”
By the end, everyone had grass in their socks and hearts full of light. Toddler finally collapsed into a cuddle, and the field sighed, its job done.
This family came to document a chapter, and we ended up creating some poetry. Silly, muddy, golden poetry.
The best kind.
